Understanding Emotional Intelligence
Studies indicate Emotional Intelligence correlates with robust mental health, job performance and leadership skills. Emotional Intelligence can enable the capability to use emotional information to guide thinking and behaviours and capability to manage emotions to be more effective in situations and environments.
Decision Making
Problem Solving is the ability to find solutions to problems in situations where emotions are involved.
Self Control is the ability to resist or delay an impulse, understanding the appropriate times and ways to act on emotions and impulses.
Situational Judgement is the capacity to remain objective, accurately assessing an environment, resources and projecting scenarios to set realistic plans/goals.
Interpersonal Relationships
Empathy involves is articulating an understanding of another’s perspective and behaving in a way that respects others’ feelings. Recognising, understanding and appreciating how others feel, is a crucial Emotional Intelligence skill.
Collaboration is the skill of developing and maintaining relationships that are characterised by trust and compassion.
Social Sensitivity is to willingly contribute to society and generally to a wider welfare of others; a moral compass directing behaviour toward promoting the greater good and contributing to society and one’s social groups.
Self-Expression
Assertiveness involves communicating and defending rights and values acceptably and non-offensively.
Emotional Expression is the natural expressing of emotions or feelings. The effective expression of emotions leverages words and 'body-language' to convey feelings.
Individuality is to be self-managed and capable to operate with emotional autonomy.
Self-Perception
Self-Actualisation is the willingness to persistently try to improve oneself.In a professional environment, this means finding purpose and enjoyment in your job and performing to your fullest potential.
Self-Awareness involves recognising and understanding your emotions. It is easier to manage behaviour and control your emotions when understanding the causes or triggers of your emotions.
Self-Esteem identifies your self-respect and personal value; it is often associated with feelings of inner strength and self-confidence, acceptance of personal strengths and limitations equally.
Stress Management
Flexibility is the capability to adapt one’s own emotions, thoughts and behaviours.
Optimism is an indicator of one’s positive, balanced or negative attitude and outlook on life.
Stress Tolerance is the ability to cope with and respond effectively to stress and mounting pressure.
